Responsibilities

As a Corporate Tax Senior, you will have the opportunity to make an impact by:

  • Preparing complicated C-Corp, S-Corp and Partnership tax returns
  • Preparing other tax returns during time periods when Tax Staff availability is limited
  • Performing detailed review of business entity tax returns prepared by Tax Staff
  • Assisting Tax Partners and Managers with tax research and consulting services
  • Managing engagement functions delegated by the Tax Partner and/or Tax Manager such as billing, preparation of engagement letters and miscellaneous administrative tasks
  • Developing the technical skills needed to perform in capacity as a Tax Senior and demonstrate progression towards being a Tax Manager
  • Developing a healthy professional rapport with mid to upper financial personnel through significant client contact
  • Interacting directly with clients and their advisors
  • Attending client meetings with a supervisor present
  • Accounting for one’s time and time incurred by their Staff
  • Working with administrative staff to increase productivity and plan assembly to ensure timely delivery of returns
  • Proactively communicating with supervisors on status of projects and assistance needed
  • Thinking proactively about practice development including opportunities to cross sell existing clients as well as identify and bring new clients to AWR

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding of a broad range of accounting issues including those involving higher levels of judgment such as: provision for income taxes, revenue recognition, subsequent events, contingencies and industry specific procedures
  • Knowledge of accounting, tax, audit and related business trends
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Ability to review and provide feedback on work prepared by Tax Staff in a professional manner
  • The ability to establish a rapport and good communication with clientele
  • Ability to gather, organize and summarize information efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to adhere to given budgets and time deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Works on multiple tasks simultaneously with regular interruptions

Educational & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • Active Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA) preferred
  • Minimum two years experience; preferably relevant U.S. public accounting experience
